Meaning of the theme of "Consumption and Services:

Under the condition of market economy, "consumption" is the constant driving force of economic growth. Expanding domestic demand, especially increasing consumer demand, is the focus of adjusting the economic structure and improving the quality and efficiency of economic development. It is the prerequisite and guarantee for promoting stable and rapid economic development, and an important part of improving people's livelihood and developing social undertakings. To determine the theme of the year of "consumption and service" is to emphasize that the work of safeguarding consumer rights should closely focus on stimulating consumption, expanding domestic demand, and doing a good job in service. The "service" mainly includes three meanings: one is to serve consumers; the other is to serve economic development; the third is to serve social harmony.

The basis for determining the theme of the year "Consumption and Services:

One is to pay attention to people's livelihood and serve the needs of consumers. Ensuring and improving people's livelihood is the ultimate goal of our economic development. The purpose of socialist production is to continuously meet the growing material and cultural needs of the people. This need, in a sense, is the consumer needs.

The second is to implement the scientific concept of development and serve the needs of economic development. First of all, to do a good job in safeguarding consumer rights is to serve the expansion of domestic demand, especially the expansion of residents' living consumption. Secondly, doing a good job in safeguarding consumer rights and increasing the contribution rate of residents' consumption to economic growth will help to better deal with the international financial crisis. Third, doing a good job in safeguarding the rights of consumption and ensuring the growth of residents' consumption is the focus of adjusting the economic structure and improving the quality and efficiency of economic development.

The third is to strengthen the concept of consumer rights protection and serve the needs of building a harmonious society. A market economy is an economy of consumer sovereignty. Only by respecting and protecting consumers can we fully release consumer demand and stimulate sustained economic growth.

Through the extensive publicity of the theme of the year, the whole society is urged to pay attention to the relationship between expanding consumption and serving consumers, serving economic development and serving social harmony, and strive to create a good consumption environment and improve consumers' consumption expectations; effectively strengthen the protection of consumers' rights and interests, enhance consumers' confidence in consumption; advocate scientific, reasonable, healthy and civilized consumption patterns, and promote sound and rapid economic and social development.
